What is a comment deep link?

A comment deep link is a URL that opens a video at the exact timestamp a comment refers to, preserving the context that prompted the comment.

Most comments are reactions to something specific that happened on screen — a config file, a slide, a line of code at 04:12. Without the timestamp, the reply has to guess what the viewer meant, and the answer ends up vaguer than the question. A deep link removes that guessing: every lead card carries a link to the moment, so whoever answers sees exactly what the commenter saw. It also helps asynchronous teams: whoever picks up the lead tomorrow watches the same ten seconds instead of scrubbing through an hour of video to work out what was being discussed, which is usually the difference between a reply that answers the question and one that asks for clarification.

Key characteristics

Context survives the handoff

When a lead moves from YouTube to Slack or Notion, the timestamp travels with it.

Faster, more specific replies

Answering takes seconds when you do not have to hunt for the moment being discussed.

Better qualification

Seeing which part of a video triggered the question tells you what the commenter actually cares about.

Useful for the whole team

Anyone picking up the lead later can watch the same ten seconds instead of the whole video.

FAQ

How is the timestamp detected?

VocLens reads timestamps mentioned in the comment text and anchors the lead to that moment in the video.

Does the deep link work in Slack and Notion?

Yes. Every routed card and every database row includes the link, so the context is available wherever the lead lands.

What if the comment has no timestamp?

The lead still links to the video and to the comment itself; only the exact-moment anchor is missing.
